Job Summary

Pamlico Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and mission-minded Part-Time Upper School English Teacher to lead students in 8th and 9th grade through literature, writing, and critical thinking. This educator will encourage intellectual curiosity, strong communication skills, and character development in a Christ-centered learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons in literature, grammar, writing, and communication.
  • Guide students in thoughtful discussions, textual analysis, and persuasive writing.
  • Assess student progress using a variety of tools and provide meaningful feedback.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and administration regarding student performance and classroom activities.
  • Uphold and model the school’s mission, values, and statement of faith.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in English and a demonstrated ability to teach middle and high school students.
  • Strong classroom management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for literature, writing, and helping students develop communication skills.
  • Prior teaching experience, ideally in middle or high school settings (preferred but not required).

Schedule & Compensation

  • Approximately 3 days per week (Approx. 21-22 hours per week); specific hours and class schedule will be determined in collaboration with Upper School Director.
  • Compensation is aligned with PCA’s part-time faculty scale.
